C h e o n j i y e o n F a l l s

I returned to South Korea this summer with my first visit to Jeju. I have heard so much of the island, which is a world heritage site and classified as one of the New7Wonders of nature in the world. The title itself is a good enough reason to visit this place.
We did not get off to a good start as I could not rent the car that I reserved. It was my fault as I have left my International Driving Licence back in Singapore. Without it, no car. Despite my relentless begging and offer to pay more, the service officer at the car rental counter refused to budge. I guess she is just doing her job well. In the end, we resort to hiring a jumbo taxi for 4 days to take us around the island. I got a feeling the trip would not turn out as good as I have anticipated.
The Jumbo Taxi that we hired.

Our first stop upon arriving into Jeju is the 22m tall Cheonjiyeon Falls.
The park is like our Little Guilin in Bukit Batok, plus a waterfall.
Hareubangs are a common sight in Jeju.
Moss forming along the rock walls.
Photos taken with the famous fall as the backdrop.
Taking a breather to absorb the beauty.
 Downstream.
Nestled in the water are Mootae eel, some can grow to 2m in length.
Crossing the 'mini falls'.

The park is surrounded by lots of greenery and water. The walk to the falls is especially enjoyable not for just the beautiful trees, plants and rocks. I could hear the falls from a distance, and the anticipation is mounting as we get closer. We took our time to enjoy the refreshing environment, after our tired morning flight in from Seoul. The air is fresh & clean, and the summer heat is bearable to not make one perspire. Minus the early hiccup, at least we have good weather to start the day.

And another travel trip awaiting....
