W a k a y a m a 2

We finally got to see Tama today! We took the Tamadensha (decorated with all things Tama) to Kishi Station, where the popular feline is based. I took loads of photos of her and even had coffee in her cafe. We also bought souvenirs from the Tama shop to complete a fulfilling day.
Along the Tamadensha route, there are many places of interest that one could visit.
The Tamaden has specific schedules and do not ply the route throughout the day. So you must plan your ride in advanced.
Pictures of Tama are all over the exterior of the train.
A lot of efforts have been spent to decorate the train.
Pictures of Tama in different positions here...
 ...and here.
The interior of the train is not spared.
It did not feel like we were in a train carriage.
 Comfortable cushion seats.
 Japanese blinds.
 Windows are decorated too.
 Nice wall papers.
Doesn't it feel like a home?
 Cat shape wall lamp.
 Tama-chan peeping at me.
 Finally arrived at Kishi Station.
 More of Tama signature memorabilia.
 Tama clock.
 Tama floor tile.
 Tama cut-out to pose with.
 Tama delivery van.
 Tama dining chairs.
 Tama rocking chairs.
Tama cafe where we rested and had a drink.
 Tama blueberry jam.
 Tama crackers.
 Tama fan buying ice cream.
 Tama ice cream cup.
 Tama kid's dining set.
 Tama light bulb.
 Tama paper cups.
Medals received by Tama for her community service.
 Tama pictorial book.
 Tama pencils and pens.
 Tama Christmas ornaments.
 Tama key chains.
Tama official head gear while on duty.
In recognition of Tama's fight against crime, she was honoured with a police cap.
 More honours and recognitions
Official appointment of Tama as the Super Station Master.
So where is Tama? She was having her beauty sleep. We did not want to wake the star up, so we strolled around the station.
Along came Omochadensha, the toy train.
Omoden is as famous as Tamaden, and ply the same route.
It looks like a playhouse and even has a crib for babies. How thoughtful.
 Cabinet displayed with toys.
It is indeed a clever idea to attract ridership.
Tama finally woke up and stretching her muscles.
But she is losing interest. I would too if I have these crazy tourists hounding me daily.
It is so hard being a superstar, and not that I am well paid or something.
Being a celebrity, she has her obligation to fulfill.
She is warming up and begin to pose for us.
 No flash please. Sashay Shante.
Tama's interest grow when she spotted a 'toy'...
 ...that got her all excited.
Ok, I need to rest and clean my *ahem*.
Watch my paw, no more photos please.
Ok, just one last shot for the day.

We were fortunate to visit Kishi and see Tama, despite the city's encounter with the typhoon earlier. It is however, unfortunate that many lives were lost and our hearts go out to the families of those who perished. Japan has experienced continuous devastations within a year but I strongly believed they would recover to become a stronger and better country.
I am dedicating this blog to Tama - the Super Station Master cat, and to the people of Wakayama for creating such a wonderful place for cat lovers. Tsugoi!

And another travel trip awaiting....

  1. Tama has sadly passed away on 22 Jun 2015, from a heart related illness. Thank you for a memorable day when we visited you in 2011.
