We have been to Japan many times, so we decided to go to Seoul this June. CX has a promotion with HSBC on the airfare and we took the opportunity to visit Korean & Hong Kong in one trip. This is my first visit and I really do not know what to expect. I am not a fan of anything Korean but Sharon has been into their drama serials and music for awhile. So I left the planning to her and for a change, I become a 'follower'. With our regular travel companions - all families in fact, we spent 5 days in Seoul and a few days more in Hong Kong.
The upmarket department store of Lotte, and the luxury hotel behind it.
Lady preparing breakfast. It is basically egg sandwich with some meat in it.
Cheonggyecheon runs through Seoul and was once a sewerage channel. Restoration effort was carried out from 2005 to renovate & beautify the canal.
The landmark stream is 11km long and is often the venue for festivities held near the Cheonggye Plaza.
OL threading their way carefully across the stream.
Beautiful promenade provide city dwellers a relaxing spot to rest & enjoy.
The stream passes under 22 bridges altogether before flowing into the Hangang River.
Maintenance work is carried out regularly to keep the water bed clean.
The iconic art sculpture Spring, standing on Cheonggye Plaza.
Remembrance of Admiral Yi Sunshin for his victories against the Japanese invasions
Emperor Sejong, the most respected king of the Joseon Dynasty.
Historical events were depicted on columns at Gwanghwamun Square.
Gwanghwamun, gate leading to Gyeongbokgung Palace
Teachers bringing their cares across the road.
Sharon say she has to go to Star Avenue at Lotte World...
...and this is her reason why, to see her Song Seungheon.
We arrived in Seoul early in the morning and since we could not check-in, we spent the day touring near our hotel. By afternoon, we were dead tired when we had little sleep on the plane. We rested early so that we could start the next day fresh and sprightly.
And another travel trip awaiting....
