U e n o

My walking tour continued to Ueno from Yanaka. The distance we walked is equivalent to 2 train stops, and it lead us through Ueno Park. I have been to the park in my last trip, but Sharon has not. She has heard about my previous cats encounter there and was eager to see it for herself.
Arriving at Ueno Park from the North entrance via Ueno Music Academy district.
The place was under partial redevelopment when I last visited. There is a Starbucks now.
Vast open space allows bazaar and more activities to take place.
 Fresh apples on sale.
 Children exploring the new pond.
Hobbyist taking to the street to practice his skills.
At least they are harnessing new skills and bonding with friends instead of playing games on the computer.
A street performer showing off his talents.
His performance garnered a lot of attention and cheer.
Crossing over to Ueno Shinobazu pond...
...where a food fare is going on.
Piping hot food on a cold evening.Tsugoi ne!
Lotus weed spreads across the Lotus Pond. In summer, fully grown lotuses will cover the entire pond, hiding it completely.
 Sun setting over the pond.
Migrating birds found home in the park.
Stop watching while I need to do my business.
A tired looking crouching cat. Wife thinks she is sick, but I deduced she was just cold. Hope it is the latter.
Our walking tour ended at the entrance of Ueno Park, across Ueno Station.
Yodobashi on the right is where we headed immediately.

In my last visit to Ueno Park, some sections of it were under redevelopment. It has now reopened and the new cafeterias are a blessing to visitors who wish to dine al fresco. I noticed now Tokyo's favourite cherry blossom spot along the central pathway of Ueno Park is closed. I figure it is due for redevelopment, and hopefully it will reopen in time for the coming Hanami parties in April.

And another travel trip awaiting....
