T o k y o

We have accumulated enough air miles from Northwest Airline that we used it to travel to Japan this fall. It is my first visit to Tokyo so I was pretty excited about it. And since the air tickets were free, we spent a bit more by putting us up at a better hotel right at Shinjuku.
Our hotel faces the Tokyo Metropolitan Offices, and it was a glorious sunny morning to start our tour.
Sharon stopping to admire the morning activities
Not much activity from these pigeons because of the cold weather.
 Shopkeeper starting his business early
 Patrons looking for dried seaweed
Mothers preparing their children for school
AmeyayoKocho at Ueno. It is a great place to start the day with some street shopping
As well as for a good Kaisendon meal. Yummy.
From Ueno, we made our way to Asakusa.
Shops lined the passage into the temple.
Receiving blessings from Maneki-neko (fortune cat)
 Early shopper with her purchases.
Stars of the past? Do you recognise anyone?
Tired of walking? Hitch on a rickshaw
Not much of used in winter days isn't it?
 A senior receiving blessings.
 And another giving thanks probably.
 The majestic Sensoji Temple
Pagoda Temple next to Sensoji
Did I mention it was a wonderful and sunny day?
Remembering the war dead
View of Asahi Beer Tower and Town Hall
Hope it doesn't mean what it is named to be.
 Neko kawaii des ka?
The famous all directional Shibuya crossing.

Minus the overcrowded train that we took that made us feel like sardines, I must say I liked what I see in Tokyo so far. The weather is good, the food is great, the shopping is fun and the sights, awesome. I hope my next destination at Lake Kawaguchi will be as wonderful.

And another travel trip awaiting....
